Website Maintenance Services

After your Website is launched, maintaining your content to guarantee you're offering up-to-date products and information is essential. Having a great Website isn't the end of the matter; it's just the beginning.

As business needs and products change regularly, it is necessary to ensure that time is set-aside on a regular basis for maintaining & updating your Website content. This might only require a quick check every six months, or daily/weekly updating.

Depending on the Hosting and Development options you choose for the content of your site, this task may be made easier for you both in the short and long term.

Sites based on html (Hypertext Mark-up Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) can be updated by SpidersNet, or a member of your staff with basic knowledge of those languages.

Website Types

Overview

The following links provide examples of three basic site design types being E-commerce, Dynamic and Promotional Websites.

E-commerce site definition

An E-commerce website allows customers to purchase products/services online, most often using a credit card and secure payment facility. Orders are received by the business from the website and then processed by the business according to their own specific handling procedures.

E-commerce sites incorporate dynamic data interaction between the customer - website - business as outlined above in "Dynamic site definition".

An example of an E-commerce Website that also employs Dynamic content is JimmysBaskets.com

If you are unsure of what the most appropriate site type is for your business or organisation, please contact SpidersNet and we will help you in establishing the requirements and needs for your application.

Dynamic site definition

A Dynamic site allows for both website visitors and the business to manipulate and interact with data presented on the website, depending on the requirements and functionality incorporated into each site. Our dynamic sites are structured on the A.S.P. (Active Server Pages) programming language.

Dynamic websites can be maintained by the client, or anyone else with basic computer literacy skills, through a tailor-made "Site Management Interface" (SMI), which allows authorised users to update the content of your site in "Live" mode, whenever it suits them to do so.

This site allows customers to purchase products online via secure credit card transaction. The Website content is maintained by the client through a custom designed Site Management Interface©.

An example of a dynamic website which is maintained on a daily basis by our client (from their own office internet connection) through a Site Management Interface© is MackayCars.com

Promotional site definition

An example of a Promotional site (which does not employ a Site Management Interface or Dynamic content) is
HandcraftedLawns.com.au. Promotional Websites, (Also referred to as Brochure sites) require maintenance by outsourced means, or by in-house staff trained in the programming languages used to develop the website.

Promotional sites are cheaper in the short-term, but are not usually considered practical for mass data exchange on a regular basis. For businesses with regularly changing products, information, news or service updates, a Dynamic website (Database enabled) is recommended.
