Maintaining your own Website is best!

By default, SpidersNet build EVERY website type to be client-maintainable. This provides a very easy, user-friendly interface requiring no programming, and limited computer skills, in order for the client or their staff, to be able to maintain their own content.

The very nature of the World Wide Web and business demands that information about products and services will change constantly, so we believe that clients should have the facility to change any such content, on demand, when it suits them to do so.

SpidersNet do not build sites that need to be constantly updated by an outsourced party, which saves our clients both time and money.

Professionally planned and developed Websites cost more to develop than sites that can not be maintained by the client themselves, because they are fully dynamic, useful and cost-effective investments in your business; not an ongoing encumberance you will regret.

Website Maintenance Services

After your Website is launched, maintaining your content to guarantee you're offering up-to-date products and information is essential. Having a great Website isn't the end of the matter; it's just the beginning.

As business needs and products change regularly, it is necessary to ensure that time is set-aside on a regular basis for maintaining & updating your Website content. This might only require a quick check every six months, or daily/weekly updating.

Depending on the Hosting and Development options you choose for the content of your site, this task may be made easier for you both in the short and long term.

Sites based on html (Hypertext Mark-up Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) can be updated by SpidersNet, or a member of your staff with basic knowledge of those languages.

Website Types

Opposite (above right) are examples of the three main website design types; being E-commerce, Dynamic and Promotional Websites.

Since you know your business better than anyone, reading about these different ebsite types will help you in deciding which type best suits your requirements and goals in developing and launching your online application.

E-commerce Website

An E-commerce website allows customers to purchase products/services online, most often using a credit card and secure payment facility. Orders are received by the business from the website and then processed by the business according to their own specific handling procedures.

E-commerce sites incorporate dynamic data interaction between the customer - website - business as outlined opposite in the "Dynamic Website definition".

An example of an E-commerce Website that also employs Dynamic content is unique-gems.com.au

If you are unsure of what the most appropriate site type is for your business or organisation, please contact SpidersNet and we will help you in establishing the requirements and needs for your application.

Dynamic Website

A Dynamic site allows for both website visitors and the business to manipulate and interact with data presented on the website, depending on the requirements and functionality incorporated into each site.

Dynamic websites can be maintained by the client, or anyone with basic computer literacy skills, through a tailor-made "Site Management Interface" (SMI), which allows authorised users to update the content of your site in "Live" mode, whenever it suits them to do so.

An example of a dynamic website which is maintained by the site owner (from their own office) via a Site Management Interface© is kontax.com.au

Promotional / Informational Website

An example of a Promotional site (which does not employ a Site Management Interface or Dynamic content) is DCS.net.au.

Promotional Websites, (Also referred to as Brochure sites) require maintenance by outsourced means, or by in-house staff trained in the programming languages used to develop the website.

Promotional sites are cheaper in the short-term, but are not usually considered practical for regular maintenance. For businesses with regularly changing products, information, news or service updates, a Dynamic website (Database enabled) is recommended.
